September is National Campus Safety Awareness Month
In 2008, National Campus Safety Awareness Month (NCSAM) was unanimously approved by Congress to encourage a public conversation on important topics in violence prevention at our nation’s colleges and universities.
Our role with NCSAM at Clery Center has been simple: to partner with institutions of higher education to develop programs and resources that promote campus safety. Each year we choose a relevant theme, then work with college and university officials to spread awareness, inform institutional policy, and effect change.
Moving Forward Together
NCSAM 2016 highlights
In 2016, Clery Center drove NCSAM engagement with programs that brought college and university officials into a nationwide discussion of campus safety.
Our NCSAM webinar series informed education professionals on a variety of Clery Act compliance and campus safety topics. Popular webinars included Annual Security Report, The Clery Act & Title IX: Practical Considerations for Coordination and Integration, and Reduce High-Risk Drinking on Your Campus.
Clery Center also started campus safety conversations on social media, where we shared insights on a daily schedule, promoted campaign-related hashtags, held a Twitter photo contest, and invited followers to create their own NCSAM Facebook pages.
